Shorty George

A playful solo step: short steps forward with the knees together, swinging to the side of each stepping foot while the shoulders drop and lift.

Step, step, step, kick (1 2 3 4)

Swing Hall

The step is named after George “Shorty George” Snowden, one of the original Lindy Hoppers at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem. Snowden was barely five feet tall and made a joke of it in his signature step, bending his knees and swinging from side to side to look even closer to the ground.

A classic solo jazz step that is also part of the Shim Sham routine. It teaches knee and shoulder styling over simple steps.
